Can’t install Xcode 3.2 on Snow Leopard

Question: I downloaded Xcode SDK 3.2.2 from Apple’s web site to develop some iPad applications but I had to upgrade from Mac OS X 10.4 to Snow Leopard first. I downloaded and installed all OS X updates. Current version is 10.6.4. It took two hours but works fine. When I wanted to install Xcode 3.2 my Mac crashed. It keeps crashing or hanging all the time I try to reinstall the SDK. What is going on with Snow Leopard and Xcode 3.2.2? Please do not say clean install… This could very well be an Apple problem.
